| MANAGEMENT
COLLEGE : JIM AND MIM |
| LEARNING METHODS
Class Room Learning: Classroom learning
is meant primarily the theoretical and conceptual inputs. Combining
lectures with group learning and the use of the case-method consolidates
classroom learning.
Case Study: Students of JIM are expected to make
rich use of the analytical tools learnt in the classroom through
wide applications in solving hypothetical and real life cases. Students
are expected to give full expression to their intellectual and creative
capabilities in devising suitable strategies and action plans. Cases
are derived from a pool of research and consultancy spanning diverse
areas of operating policies, accounting methods, market analysis,
strategic management and international business.
Simulation Techniques: At JIM, relentless emphasis
is laid on experimenting with the techniques learnt in books and
classrooms and applying them in a non-threatening environment. Such
experimentation and testing takes place through regular Business
games, In-basket-exercises, Role playing and other simulation techniques
which keeps students engaged in continuous learning.
Presentations: Managers of today are facing increasing
pressure to improve their presentation skills and improve the quality
of oral communication. Students of JIM are required to make at least
one presentation per fortnight on projects and case studies, in
the process of which they become dexterous in conveying ideas and
information in appealing managerial style.
Project Work: The knowledge gained in the classroom
needs to be reinforced by the right attitude and proper skill to
complete the gamut of developing managerial capability. Non-classroom
curriculum consists of a variety of projects, which provide opportunities
for application of the knowledge learnt in class to real life situations
within the college and outside. Once the projects are complete,
the students are required to submit project report and make presentation
to the rest of the class.
Industrial visits: It provides an opportunity
to the students to have first hand practical exposure and helps
relate the conceptual and analytical skills acquired in the classroom
to actual management practices wherein students make a group-visit
to organizations of regional, national and international importance.
During these visits, face-to-face discussions take place with senior
executives. Students get an opportunity to interact around critical
strategic and operational issues that corporate manager's face in
managing corporate actions. The close academia & industry interaction
is useful to corporate organizations because many time's indicative
and creative solutions emerge to the benefit of the organizations.
Note: - Each student should make a note of the fact that they are
compulsorily required to attend the Industrial visits.

- Class Room Learning: Theory and practice go hand in hand and
so class room learning leads to the perfect knowledge of all the
concepts at primary level. To work practically, all ideologies
must be apprehended in a proper way. Class room learning also
inculcates the feeling of competition in the students.
- Presentation : Communication is one of the entrepreneurial skills
for success and so presentations are taken from time to time which
help you reach your goal in all kinds of business encounters.
The emphasis is given on delivering your idea to the audience
within the framework of time. This generates a feeling of positive
attitude and confidence in students. For complete development
of your personalities these qualities are a must today. So our
students outshine with rare managerial qualities which are a top
priority in corporate world.
- Project Work : Clarity of thoughts and enhancement of knowledge
through research work is a part of project work. To achieve complete
dexterity in the concepts and ideas learnt in classroom section
, JCRC students are trained by giving them projects. In this way
they apply the concepts and ideologies learnt to the real life
situations. And in the end they are asked to submit a report.
- Industrial Visits: It gives the students a chance to know how
things how operate which further leads to the knowledge of its
output. Through industrial visits, we make the students aware
of the managerial activities. Planning, direction, teamwork, decentralization
of authority and responsibility, co-ordination all these are shown
them practically. They come face-to-face with all from top level
managers to low level workers , thus interacting with all. They
get an opportunity to interact and get first hand experience of
how an organization works. This reinforces a positive behavior
and better managerial attitude which is an asset for a student
of BBA.
- Library : A well equipped library is there for the students
to explore. Newspapers, Articles, Journals, Periodicals, Magazines
are there so that they have the information of latest technologies
and inventions. It is updated fortnightly with the latest books
and magazines. We have made an attempt to provide almost all the
books of management to the students. Books related to Computers
and research journals are also there. Five non-transferable tokens
are given and an extra can be obtained on by payment of Rs. 10/
each. We instigate our students to explore library frequently.

with the latest hardware and software. Software and programming
languages like ‘C’, “C++”, Visual Basic,
Oracle, Visual Fox-pro etc. are available in the computer lab.
All the software are upgraded regularly and then to keep in pace
with the rapidly changing IT world. World Wide Web has become
an integral part of our lives. Surfing through it seems as if
the world is just at our threshold, waiting to enter. Keeping
this in mind, we have made internet facility free for the students.
